Portrait & Family Photographer

Portraits & Family Photographer

Portraits, family photos, formal images of our children, parents, group images, and so on, are incredibly important to us.  It’s been said many times, and it’s totally true, in the event of a disaster, we grab our photo albums first.

Sofas, tables, TVs, those are all easily replaceable with our insurance, but not those family photos. If we lose those, it really is a disaster.

So what’s my point? My point is, that I don’t think we have enough family portraits in the modern age. I know, who would have thought a photographer would make such a claim, right?

That phone that’s always close at hand, and that we are always taking snaps with, leads us to believe that we have plenty of family photos. That may be true. But they are not professional portraits, and that’s where the difference lies. And of course, we might lose those phone photos if something goes wrong. It’s happened to me!

Maybe it’s time for that professional portrait session? Or perhaps you arrived here because you are looking for a family photographer?

Studio Family Portraits.

Studio family portraits are a popular choice, from the standpoint of your family photographer, it’s a much more controlled environment. And by control, I’m referring to lighting. There are no weather challenges either.

Of course, studio family photography can also include your favorite pet, after all, they are family too, right? Just give a little advance notice and we can plan family portraits with pets accordingly.

Family Reunions.

Do you have an upcoming family reunion and want to plan a photo session to capture some family memories? Perfect! And though a studio portrait session may work well, if you prefer an in-home family session, that’s not a problem. It may even be more convenient for everyone.

Portraits & Family Photographer FAQ’S

How Much Does A Portrait Photographer Cost?

The cost of a portraits & family photographer can vary hugely depending on the duration of your session and your specific product preferences.

And most importantly, it is also determined by the skill of the photographer. A good, solid photographer comes at a price, and it’s usually worth it.

As a full-service studio, I offer prints, wall portraits, canvasses, acrylics, and even albums. On average, my clients invest between $800 and $3,500 on portrait and family photography.

I believe that the value of capturing timeless memories is immeasurable, and these images are destined to be cherished for generations to come. Your investment in a portraits & family photographer will help to capture the beauty of your family’s story and history. And you will love it.

How Do We View The Images?

I provide two convenient options for viewing your images. One option is an in-person meeting a few days after the photoshoot. This allows us to sit down together, review the edited images, and address any questions or preferences you may have.

The other option is an online gallery, where your final images are uploaded for viewing. You can easily share the gallery link with your friends and family to involve them in the viewing experience. And, yes, you can even choose both options for your convenience.

What Should We Wear?

Choosing what to wear for your portrait and family photos is a great question. For families, some prefer coordinating outfits, such as everyone wearing blue jeans and white tees, while others opt for individual styles. The choice is entirely personal and can be influenced by browsing family photos online for inspiration. If you need guidance or recommendations, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.

For individual portraits the choices are easier, please feel free to get in touch to discuss what may be best for you. Contact me to discuss your family’s photography needs and to schedule your session.

Portraits Tell A Story Of Who You Are.

Portraits and family photo shoots have always captured our attention. Whether they are in a frame on a nightstand, or hanging in a nation art gallery, they capture our attention. They tell the story of the subject.

Family portraits, especially children, should be captured every year, a record of just how fast they grow and change. Investing in family photography never comes with regrets, and that’s due in part to the emotional value it comes with.

If you would like to book a portrait session, or arrange a family session, use the link on this page. Sessions can be in the studio, on location, or at your home.

How Important Are Photographs To You?

Families change and evolve quickly. This is why regular family photos are invaluable. For us, these photographs hold a special place in our hearts, capable of evoking tears of joy as we revisit the snapshots of our children from just a few years ago.

If photographs of our loved ones are that important, and they surely are, why don’t we get more professional portraits taken? Yes, it baffles me too. Having a family pictures photographer should be like having a dentist in my opinion. But then again, I am maybe a little biased.

In the face of a disaster, like a fire, most people would grab intensely personal items, including family photographs. A pair of shoes can be replaced, but that photo from five years ago is irreplaceable. This is where a family photographer’s role extends beyond just taking pictures; we become the guardians of your cherished memories – the archivists of your family’s history.

How Important YOUR Photographs Are To Me!

I have had clients reach out in moments of distress, their computer crashing or their laptop stolen, resulting in the loss of their treasured family photos. These issues happen to us all. Fortunately, I retain all photography sessions of our clients, ensuring they can recover at least the pictures I have captured.

The value of family pictures should never be underestimated. As a family photographer, there is nothing more rewarding than witnessing the pure joy on the faces of our clients when they receive their beautiful new photographs. These moments are truly priceless, and they serve as a reminder of the significance of our work.

Ready to preserve your family’s memories with a family pictures photographer? Schedule your session and let’s capture images that you will, without fear of being mushy,  treasure for a lifetime.

Stick With Your Portraits & Family Photographer

It may seem self-serving that as a portraits and family photographer, I’m suggesting that you stick with me, every year, but I do have my genuine reasons.

As a photographer and as a father who has lost a child to sickness, I am acutely aware of the importance of photographs. Every single photograph of my son Christopher is a work of art to me – even if it’s blurry. The importance of the images captured by a portrait photographer is immense, if not today, one day.

The first thing is connection.  In working with your photographer, whether it’s yearly group photos or a birthday party, a relationship is built over time.  And that helps a lot, people are more relaxed around their family photographer if they have been around them many times.

Then there is the style.  Your photographs will be consistent from year to year using the same photographer, and at some point if you decide to put together a photo album, it all gels. It fits together best if the final pictures all come from the same photographer.

Possibly the most important consideration is you are more likely to send a quick email every year saying “Hey, we need new pictures” if you have a good relationship with your family photographer.

Some things to consider, right?

Families Love Photo Shoots.

I have noticed over the many, many photo sessions I have done – families have fun with their photo shoots. Everyone gets dressed up, sometimes it involves larger numbers made up of several families, it’s awesome! It’s like a social gathering of sorts.

My work as a photographer grants me the privilege of seeing families come together and have fun. It’s a beautiful thing.

Best Family Photographer Near Me.

Did you search for “best family photographer near me”? If you did, and I came up, I’m flattered.

Seriously though, I don’t know where I fall on the list of best family photographers, but what I do know is this – I will work hard to make sure you get the family photographs that you desire and deserve. Making sure that you are happy with the results is what it’s all about.

A Word About Quality.

All camera equipment is not the same. I have found myself at events working alongside photographers using equipment that just isn’t professional. And why does that matter?

Well, a really good professional lens might cost $2,500. Just for the lens.  So why would anybody pay that if they can buy a camera and lens combination for $695? The answer is image quality.

If you asked any professional photographer what the most important investment a photographer should make is, they would say: GLASS. By that they mean lenses. Lenses that produce crisp, sharp images with great contrast.  I can look at websites and tell that the images were taken with lesser-quality equipment.

High-end equipment is one of the things that drives the cost of hiring a professional photographer. They invest in their equipment to deliver you the best quality results. And it is worth it in the end. Don’t compromise, it’s not worth it.
